Back to the Retro Japan
Exhibition period: November 28 (Sat), 2020 – March 7 (Sun), 2021
This year, just like last year, antique tools dating back 150–40 years are collected and exhibited. They are exhibited in 2 categories that are connected to the life of children; “Town” and “Home.” A display scene is reproduced that looks like a movie set, which displays the tools and allow visitors to learn, while having fun, how they were used in everyday life back then. It also displays similar present-day tools along with the old, to show the transitions and transformations that have been made to them.
This is a kids-and-family-friendly exhibition and some of the tools may bring back memories for adult visitors.
About volunteer guide program
Although this program has been received well over the years, we will not operate the program this fiscal year to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infections.
About “experience corner”
In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infections, we will not operate the programs of “experience corner (try-outs of tools and old toys, toy-making workshops, etc.)” For school organizations, however, a simplified version of the tool try-out is available, with COVID-19 protective measures.
